LAKE, Paul Eugene "Gene" Departed this world to be with his blessed Lord and Savior on January 25, 2018. Gene was born in Fairmont, WV on October 18, 1934, the eldest son of the late Beryl B and Martha E (West) Lake. Gene is a 1953 graduate of East Fairmont High School. After graduating he enlisted with the USAF where he retired with the rank of SMSgt. During this time he served 2 tours in Viet Nam. While in the Air Force he received the Bronze Star. He then worked and retired from the US Air Force Museum after 21 years of service with the rank of GM14. He was a member of First Baptist Church on Lower Valley where he served as deacon. He also belonged to the Masonic Lodge. Gene loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He enjoyed the huge Koi pond he made in his back yard and working on old cars. He was very talented and could fix anything. Gene will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Tomi Lake, daughter Linda Lake, New Carlisle, OH, granddaughter Kayla McClellan, Centerville, OH, four brothers, Jack C Lake, Thomas A (Donna) Lake, Robert L (Kay) Lake, James E (Barbara) Lake, one sister, Nancy N Valentine all of Fairmont, WV, sister in law Nancy J Lake, Norco CA, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gene is preceded in death by one brother John G Lake, brother in law James T Valentine, and nephews David W and Bradley T Lake. Family and friends may visit 4-6 PM Tuesday January 30, 2018 at TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, 507 W. Jefferson St., New Carlisle, Ohio. Funeral service will be 12 noon Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Dale Slumbo officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
