A dear friend and mentor for many years. Richard always greeted me as he would a long lost son, arms stretched out, offering a much welcomed hug.

He and I shared a common interest in the model airplane hobby. It was through this hobby, I would come to meet a wonderful, caring and loving man, his wife Irma (mom), and their children: Claire, Ann, Tom and David. They all welcomed me into their home and their lives. It was 1975, when I was stationed at Wright Patterson, AFB, there in Dayton, OH. Dick and I would work on our models in his basement shop and fly them on some weekends. I recall going water skiing in the Little Miami River, skiing for such a long period, I no longer had the strength to climb back in the boat. They had to pull me in. And it was COLD!! But boy, what fun!!! We stayed in touch for many many years, seeing each other at a flying event in Deland, FL and during my visits back in Ohio. It has been 43-years. I love you Dick!! and wished I had seen you during my last visit in December. God speed and may God bless your family.
