HUTCHINSON, Donald E. "Don" Age 78, passed away Wednesday August 2, 2017 after a multi-year bout with prostate cancer. He was born in Springfield, Ohio to Douglas Angevine Hutchinson and Mary Elizabeth (Krupp) Hutchinson. Don graduated from Catholic Central High School in Springfield and then the University of Detroit with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and later a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology. He received an officer's commission in the U.S. Army after completing the ROTC program at University of Detroit and served active duty at Fort Bliss, Texas. Don worked at American Electric Power for 37 years, first in New York City and then in Columbus, Ohio. Don leaves his devoted wife, Lillian (Jahns) Hutchinson; his loving Westie, Sophie; his sister Anita (Hutchinson) Boshears and her husband Clarence Boshears; and many cousins and friends. Visitations will be Sunday 2-5pm at the MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI Funeral Home, 1068 S. High St. Mass of Christian Burial 10am Monday at St. Leo Catholic Church, 221 Hanford St. Burial Green Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Don's memory may be made to St. Mary's Restoration Fund to repair the lightning strike damage and structural deterioration at 684 S. 3rd St., Columbus OH 43206, or your favorite charity.
