Dolores "Dolly" Marie Gianoulis
Greenville - Dolores "Dolly" Marie Gianoulis passed peacefully at home September 7th, 2018 surrounded by her 4 children and a granddaughter. A death as gracious and beautiful as was her being in life.
Dolores was born December 19, 1931 in Lawrence, MA to James and Hilda Winnington. She grew up on Mill Road, where her father managed Bancroft Mills, and where Dolly worked after graduation.
Dolly married her high school sweetheart, Nicholas R. Gianoulis, on November 27, 1953 in St. Ann's Church. The couple met at a Salesianum / St. Elizabeth's dance and were married 56 years.
Dolly delighted in nurturing family, friends, and her beloved cats and dogs; in decorating her homes; in summers at the beach; in the quiet satisfaction of gardening; in the extensive travel she and Nick enjoyed. She was prime support to Nick as he built his successful business, United Electric Supply. A gracious hostess and wonderful cook, Dolly entertained for business associates and friends, and relished preparing and enjoying big Sunday suppers and holiday feasts shared with extended family.
Her joy as a mother was only surpassed by sheer delight in her grandchildren, who treasure their memories of Mom Mom. Dolly was blessed to behold the first great-grandchild.
Predeceased by her father in 1980, and husband and mother in 2009, Dolly's love lives on in her children, Deborah (David) Heald, Donna (Brad) Van Every, Nick (Maria), Diane (Dan) Krapf and their families. Her memory is cherished by all who knew her.
Dolly's family is grateful for the exceptional and caring staff at Stonegates Community. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Ann's Church and/or Swank Center for Memory Care, c/o Development Office, 13 Reads Way, Suite 203, New Castle, DE 19720.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Ann's Church, 2013 Gilpin Ave., Wilmington, DE 19806 at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 6th, with burial following at Cathedral Cemetery.
