Dr. John Aaron was a remarkable individual: the United States has lost a great talent who contributed greatly, silently. John was selfless, always ready to set aside his responsibilities to help another with his problem. His contributions at the Geological Survey were legion: his most important are the thousands of publications his office issued, each with an excellence in quality and appearance unequaled by any organization today. In his retirement Dr. Aaron worked in numerous ways to support the Christian Sanderson Museum in Chadds Ford, the childhood community in which he grew up, to which he remained loyal his entire life. John's laugh and smile were ready rewards to almost every conversation: one left John's presence reflecting on how important he always made one feel. We, his colleagues, have lost a rare soul and a great friend.

My heartfelt sympathies to the family during this difficult time...May your fondest memories bring you joy and may prayers to the God of all comfort strengthen you.
He promises, "I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. I am healing you."
(2 Kings 20:5)
