Mary J. DiGiacoma
AGE: 88 • Wilmington
Mary J. DiGiacoma passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, March 23, 2017.
She was born and raised in Wilmington to the late Regina E. (McLaughlin) and William J. Acton and graduated from Claymont HS in 1947. She was co-owner of the former Naamans Supply. Mary also raised 5 children. Mary was a member of Delaware Veterans Post #1 and Holy Rosary Parish. She was an avid bowler. Most important to her was her family.
Her husband of 45 years, Vincent F. died in 1994. Mary is survived by her 5 children, Mary Salisbury (Fred), Michael (Dianna), Joanne Chism, Teresa Jackson (Joe) and Mark (Lisa) and 4 siblings, Jean, Kate, Gerry and Pat. She will also be dearly missed by all her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mary was also preceded in death by 5 siblings, Gertrude, Peggy, Bill, Barbara and Bernadette. She is also survived by "Omar T. Tentmaker."
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 28, at 11 am, at the Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Rd, Wilmington, DE, where friends may call after 10 am. Mary chose to have her body donated to science through Humanity Gifts Registry for medical research.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
A special thanks to all of mom's friends and staff at the Lorelton, for all their love and care. We also want to thank VITAS Healthcare for their help and guidance.

I'm sorry to hear of your moms passing. Even though many years and miles have passed between us, I have fond childhood memories surrounding your mother. Especially during one Christmas holiday helping your parents decorate the tree, not to mention all the delicious food and treats.
