Philip C. Wayland
Philip C. Wayland, age 83, passed away peacefully in his sleep after a rapid battle with pancreatic cancer on May 15, 2017.
A Wilmington, native, graduate of Wilmington High School and the Pennsylvania Military College, Philip was an Army veteran. He was a career Federal employee and longtime host of the Social Security Q and A show on WCOJ "Your Right to Know" in Chester County, PA. Phil was known by friends for his dry sense of humor, a crack ping-pong and pool game, playing his sweet trombone, unflinching love of cutting the grass, as well as, fishing and boating on the Chesapeake.
Phil was predeceased by his parents, Beatrice (Bickta) and Clarence Wayland; and sister, Evelyn. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sharon (nee Pinkerton); sons, Edward C. and his wife, Michele and David F.; a beloved grandson, Eddie; and one niece, Deborah Stauffer Heiser.
A Graveside Service will be held Monday, May 22, 2017 at 11am at Chester Bethel Cemetery, 2619 Foulk Road, Wilmington, DE 19810. In lieu of flowers, please donate in his name to the Delaware Hospice Association, 16 Polly Drummond Center, 2nd Floor, Newark, DE 19711.
