Michael Sarnecky
AGE: 66 • Newark
Michael J. Sarnecky age 66, of Newark, DE sadly passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by his family. For 22 months, he led a courageous fight against Pancreatic Cancer.
Michael was a graduate of Conrad High School and Del Tech with honors. He served 33 years in the Delaware Air National Guard. Michael was employed at Hercules / Ashland / Solenis for 48 years. He was a member of Opera Delaware, St. Peters Cathedral and the Seton Pilipina choirs. He was an active and devoted parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. He was co-chair of the annual Seton Carnival and a 4th degree Knight of Columbus.
Michael leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years, Kathryn (Kathie); daughter Sarah Johnson (Everett); son Matthew (Stephanie); grandchildren Mason, Emma, and Julianna; parents John and Elvira; 2 sisters and 4 brothers and multiple extended family. He was predeceased by a brother Jackie.
Family, friends and others whose lives Michael touched are invited to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Bear, DE on Saturday, October 7, 2017. Visitation is from 9am to 11am followed by funeral mass. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Pancreatic Cancer, #Sarneckystrong, or to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 345 Bear Christiana Rd., Bear, DE 19701.

Dear Kathy and family, Mr. and Mrs Sarnecky, Kenny and all,
My affection and prayers are with you and your familes. Michael was always close in my thoughts as a friend these past fifty years. From Junior Proms, Theater workshops at University to midnight appropriations from Haunted Houses, he was always up for the game a foot. The world is a little darker and not quite as warm without his svivlight.and we will have to search long and hard to find another soul like his.
