My Aunt Ruth! What a sweet, kind woman she was. She and my mother, Mollie Fleck, were best friends since they met in Brookside as neighbors in the early 50s. Aunt Ruth has been an inspiration to me; always positive and kind with a smile on her face. She made friends easily as she was truly interested in and cared about others. People were attracted to her because they felt how much she cared about them and enjoyed their company.

My finacee, Debbie, my sister-in-law, Sylvia, and I were fortunate to see her on Oct 7th when Debbie and I were up in the area for my nephew's wedding. Inspite of all her recent health challenges, she greeted us with a big smile and tears of gratitude for coming to visit. She had such a fine mind and clearly remembered each and every detail when reflecting upon memories of the many happy years she lived. She giggled when recalling some shananigan Danny and I got involved in when we were kids.

Her favorite story about me was when I was a little boy and ate a little blue egg I found in a bird's nest believing it to be a candy egg. "David, the look on your face when you tasted that egg believing it to be candy", she would say while cracking a smile of delight for retelling a story that could have been taken from Art Linkletter's "Kids Say [& do] the Darndest Things". When we saw her last she remembered the nest was on top of the electric meter on the side of our house. I learned something new that day as I had always believed I climbed up a tree in the backyard to find the nest.

Yes, her mind was sharp, her interest in and concern for others was always top-of-mind and love radiated from her like rays of sunshine from the heavens! Bless you Aunt Ruth. I'm sure you and my Mom are laughing and enjoying yourselves in the afterlife! I'll be reminded that your spirit is with us everytime I see a ray of sunshine or feel it's warmth, because that's what you were to me; the light and warmth of a deeply loving and caring human being created in God's image.
