Mrs. Wineberg, I still have the book you gave me in 7th grade English class more than 50 years ago. In fact, I'm looking at it right now. It was a guide to poetry written by one of your own English professors back before the college you attended became a university. It is called A Saddle for Pegasus, and you passed it on to me because you saw promise in me as a writer and a poet. You were absolutely the first person to really encourage my writing, and I have drawn upon the gifts you gave me throughout my entire life. I have two grown children, both of whom are excellent writers who would never dare to dangle a preposition in polite company (you would be so proud!) One also became an educator. Whenever I am asked to identify a teacher who made a huge difference in my life, it is always you, hands down. You may be gone from this physical world, but the impact you made on so many thousands of students like me lives on, and is being passed down through generations. I remain extremely blessed to have had your encouragement to help to shape the person I grew up to be. Thank you. I will never forget you.

Susan and Family,

Our sincere condolences on your mother's passing. We will always remember her as a principled, supportive lady who had a genuine concern for helping all. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed. Treasure your memories of such a wonderful person.

I had the distinct honor to work as an English teacher with Sharon at Gunning Bedford. My family and I were deeply saddened by the loss of Sharon. She mentored me as a new teacher, and I learned many skills from her, which I continue to use. We grew quite close, and she became a mentor to to me as a young mother as well. Sharon's innate humor and wit were enjoyed by many, but her compassion ran equally as deep. She blessed many in her life. Sharon adored her children and their each of their unique talents and personalities. They were everything to her.
