Domenica "Betty" Capano
Bear - Domenica "Betty" Capano of Bear, DE passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at home, comforted by her children and grandchildren.
Our mom gave much love throughout her long and happy life and received tenfold in return. Family celebrations, of which there were many, brought her much joy. Our mom was born in Wilmington, DE on November 26, 1919, the daughter of the late Louis and Angela Rose (Popo) Marioni. Our mom was a homemaker and devoted her life to caring for all of us.
She was a founding member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, where she taught CCD classes and volunteered as a teacher's aide for the pre-school. She was a long standing member in the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality.
Mom enjoyed spending time at the Jersey shore and Delaware beaches, and she loved taking trips to Atlantic City. Mom wrote and published a cookbook, "With Love from Betty's Kitchen", which is a collection of our family recipes.
Mom was predeceased by our dad Frank J. Capano; her sisters, Yolanda George (Joe), Mary Tritelli (Benny); her brothers, Andrew (Yolanda), Anthony, Louis (Theresa); her granddaughter, Stephanie M. Capano and her grandson, Michael M. Capano, Sr.
Mom is survived by her children; Joseph L. Capano (Marilee), Mario Capano (Becky), Rosemarie Kokoszka (Mike Mattia), Frank J. Capano, II (Michelle), Joy Capano Lemley (Dennis); sisters-in-law, Angeline Nardo, & Phyllis Marioni; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Our mom lived by many virtues that were easily recognizable to all who knew her, such as acceptance, faith, forgiveness, kindheartedness, generosity, encouragement, patience, humility and love. We are so grateful for who she was and is to all of us, and for the love she gave us in our lives. She will continue to be our source of inspiration and strength.
We would like to thank Barbara Marconi, Peggy Campbell, Karen Quinn, Myrna Ennis, Dorothe White, Rose Holmes and Janet Hardy, who provided extraordinary care to mom for the past year and a half and longer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 345 Bear-Christiana Road, Bear, DE 19701 on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 10:00am. Interment will be held at Cathedral Cemetery in Wilmington. Family and friends may call in the Church on Friday, December 15, 2017 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm.
