Mary T. Cummings
Wilmington - Passed away peacefully on Friday, December 22, 2017.
Mary was born and raised in Wilmington, DE. She was a graduate of both St. Thomas Elementary Catholic School and Wilmington High School. Mary was a lifelong parishioner of St. Thomas R.C. Parish. She could always be found volunteering for whatever event the church was providing the community; everything from bingo to serving lunch Mary was there.
Mary had many skills. She was a talented seamstress and gardener. Mary also loved her pets, her house was always full of several dogs and cats at any given time.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John "Jack" Cummings Sr., and her sons, Charles Cummings and Edward Cummings.
Mary will be dearly missed by her children, John Cummings Jr. (Gisela), Mary Cummings, Ellen Deely (James), William Cummings (Beth), and Kathleen Eckton (Ronald); her grandchildren, Jessica, Daniel, Kara, Danielle, Tori, Kyle, and Carlee; as well as a large loving extended family and her dogs, Sophia and Princess.
The family would like to extend their sincerest thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Season's Hospice for their compassionate care of Mary in her final days.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, 301 N. Bankcroft Pwky., Wilm., DE 19805, on Thurs Dec 28 at 11:00 am. Friends may call at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilm., DE 19805, on Wed Dec 27 from 6:00pm -8:00pm. Interment will take place at Cathedral Cemetery following mass.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made in Mary's name to the Humane Society, 701 A St, Wilmington, DE 19801, or Faithful Friends, 12 Germay Dr, Wilmington, DE 19804, or Seasons Hospice, 220 Continental Dr Ste 407, Newark, DE 19713.
