What a shock to learn that my long-term friend, Barbara, is no longer with us. We met many years ago on a ski trip. Shortly after that she bought her little house in Spring Valley, and I became her roommate. Her friends became mine and mine hers. After she married Bill we lost track of each other for a few years. But she called when Bill was ill, and we became close again. Fond memories of taking my Golden Retriever to see Bill; and i was honored when she asked me to go with her to scatter her Newfie's ashes in the park. She was a confident, an advisor, a best friend and so very smart. I was as excited as she was about her upcoming trip to Africa and looking forward to her first visit after that to visit me at my new retirement home in Richmond. As i lose my dear friend, there is a hugh hole in my heart.

Remembering Barbara fondly--that gravely voice calling me up and saying, "Sweetie, I need to talk to you about (fill in the blank)." What a treasure to have known her.

I loved Barbara. Our friendship began in 2007, after I moved to a house next to hers. We enjoyed each other. We laughed and cried together. She took me on day trips, the last one on Feb. 20 to the Air & Space Museum at Dulles. We had been planning that trip for two years, but something always got in the way. I'm so happy we finally made it. She helped me weather sad times and tough times, she encouraged me to never give up, she gave me strength to keep trying. That was Barbara. I can't imagine not seeing her or calling her anymore. She was a part of my life. I will never forget her. Rest in peace, dear Barbara. I love you.

Barbara was a smart, dedicated person. I send my sympathy to her family.
I knew Barbara and Vicky growing up in Salisbury. Vicky, would you please email me? I would like to connect with you. [email protected]
