I have tried several times to write in my dear friend's guest book, however unsuccessful every time. I am going to attempt it again because I am still in denial that I have lost such a dear friend and I will never see him again in this lifetime. We lost him so suddenly and unexpectedly and I am unable to process his loss.

Don was someone who saw me through the worst of times when I lost my husband several years ago. He was my "go to man" whenever I needed something done in my home after my husband passed.

Don took care of a leak in my basement that no one was able to figure out where the water was coming from. When we had power outrages he would run with me to get a generator, would set it up and would run down to my house to keep it filled with gasoline. He even saved my life one time when no one was around and he rushed me to the hospital for an unexpected, emergency surgery. I don't know how I would have gotten through my move when I sold my home had it not been for Don and Laurie. Through all my difficult times they both were there!

Our boys were in scouts together, we traveled together as families and although I know my girlfriend Laurie prompted Don to do odd jobs for me our friendship grew and we developed a very special bond. We would talk about everything and although Don appeared to have a hard exterior, I seemed to be able to break through that.

I definitely drove him crazy too. I think he liked it, even though he continued to call me out whenever we played euchre and I could not remember trump or to change the score cards. I think that is why he made me a beautiful wooden, hand carved euchre set with a dice marked with all the card suits so I would remember what trump was and also score counters with arrows with little rhinestones because he knew how much I love my bling! I WILL TREASURE the set he made me forever!

I will cherish my memories of him whenever I brought him cookies, pies, Easter bread and one of his favorites, my eclaire cake. I am going to miss him for so many reasons and it will take a long time for me to process that he is gone.

Fly high on eagle's wings my dear friend. You are now with the angels and my beloved husband. I know we will one day be reunited. Rest in peace. Thank you for all you did for me, I could never have gotten through all those difficult times without you and Laurie.

Laurie you are one of my dearest friends and Brian and Jeff you are like my own sons. I am so very, very sorry and I WILL ALWAYS be here for all of you! With my deepest sympathy, prayers and love.
