In the Lord's prayer, we say "Thy will be done..." Somehow all this was God's plan; that Nancy and Karen spent a certain amount of tine here and then leave. Their time here was well spent and a joy and inspiration to many. "enter his gates with thanksgiving & and his courts with praise..." PS 100:4

My thoughts and prayers are with Karen's family. I knew Karen through the spina bifida association and Rochester Rookies. We had great times at Camp Haccamo during her high school years and I am grateful for those memories. Rest in peace Sweet Lady!

Karen volunteered for the National Kidney Foundation and in 2008 she received the Joseph Di Martino Scholarship to assist with educational pursuits. I'll never forget her determination, infectious smile, and gentle spirit. She was an inspiration to anyone she met. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

SAFELY HOME

I am home in Heaven dear ones,
Oh! so happy and so bright,
There is perfect joy and beauty,
In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed,
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder I so calmly,
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! but Jesus' love illumined,
Every dark and fearful glade.

And He came Himself to meet me,
In that way so hard to tread,
And with Jesus' arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still,
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's will.

There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now while life remaineth,
You shall rest in Jesus' land.

When the work is all completed,
He will gently call you home,
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come.

I knew Karen as a cheerful girl and young woman, always with a bright smile and friendly encouraging word. I found her optimism contagious as she outlined plans for her future, changing them over the years as health and other circumstances intervened. In my experience, nothing ever seemed to really bring Karen down, at least not for very long. Her family was her strength. I believe that she is now resting comfortably, without pain or stress, and in the warm embrace of her mother and grandmother.
