It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our treasured Dad, GrandDad, Husband, Brother, Uncle and friend, Ted Gacek on Friday, May 5 in Denver, Colorado. Ted was a son of Polish immigrants, born Thaddeus Roman Gacek on September 6, 1934 in Winnipeg, Canada. Ted was always a proud son of Canada and was also extremely proud of his Polish heritage. He loved hockey almost as much as he did making cabbage rolls every Christmas! He started with Great-West Life in 1954. A company that would shape a lot of his future in the years to come. It was at Great-West that he met Daphne Hall. They married in 1964 and enjoyed 45 happy years of marriage while raising two sons. Great-West also gave Ted the opportunity to assist in establishing operations in the United States and in the summer of 1982 he moved his family from Canada to Littleton, Colorado. He retired in 1996, an officer with the company that had been so much a part of his life. He got his U.S. citizenship in 2002 and proudly sang the Star Spangled banner at every Avalanche game! Ted, a very faithful God-loving soul, was also very involved in the church, specifically St. Thomas More where he was very active with the Knights of Columbus as a Fourth Degree Knight and he also held the title of Grand Knight for a time. Ted was predeceased by his wife Daphne, parents Matteusz and Maria; sisters Lily and Sophie, brothers Stan and Kaz. He will be lovingly remembered by his son Andrew Gacek (Sharon); son Michael Gacek (Cassandra); and grandchildren Courtney, Jocelyn, and Sarah. He will also be missed by his brother Wally Gacek (Frankie) and many nieces, nephews and countless friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or St. Thomas More Catholic Church. For service information, visit www.horancares.com

Andrew and Family,
Jen and I hope this is a joyous occasion for all as I'm sure he would want it that way. He sounds like a great man and I'm sure he will be missed.
