I would like to share a couple of memories I have of Ed Sparhawk if I may. I would also like to add that is hard to speak about Mr. Sparhawk without mentioning Mrs. Sparhawk as that is how i knew them. Together!
This is probably a little unconventional for a "Legacy Guest Book" but I don't think Mr. Sparhawk would mind and I hope their son's don't.
My family moved into Columbine Knolls behind the Sparhawk home (on South Newland Street) and we were neighbors from 1973-1977 but I have stayed friends with Jim to this day. I met Mr. Sparhawk maybe two days after moving to Colorado in the winter of 1973 when I was in 7th Grade. I was playing football with his son's in their backyard. After being clipped and my face pushed into the snow, (which they all denied ) I received a bloody nose. Jim (my future Bestie) brought me into their home and Mr. Sparhawk said, "so your the new kid?" My head looking up at the ceiling so blood would not get on floor, I said, Yes sir.."I see you met my son's"..., yes sir... "Did you learn anything?" Yes sir.. "Good,The bathrooms over there".. lol.. Later that night i brought my boxing gloves over and he said, "I thought you said you learned something?" Duh,, The hard way! Obviously I did not, as i proceeded to get my butt kick by the youngest Sparhawk. Ed had zero sympathy as did my father when I came home. They were two of the a kind. Old school! Unfortunately I was handicapped as I grew up with three sisters.. I was forced to get tougher as I loved hanging out at that Sparhawk home but I never was as tough as those boys.

There are many other fond memories but one that stands out is when Mr. Sparhawk and the family took me on a trip to Kansas City for Jim's wedding.. I was honored and proud as Mr. and Mrs. Sparhawk were incredible hosts to me..They showed so much class and I was so impressed with how Mr. Sparhawk managed the Bride's Family and Friends. I was really impressed as Mr. Sparhawk stood up as "Best Man" for his third son. I knew then that my father would also be my best man one day. Mr. and Mrs Sparhawk were very special. I learned a lot from him/them and respected him immensely. My heart aches today but Mr. and Mrs Sparhawk can be darn proud of their legacy. I have learned something positive from all the Sparhawk boys, thanks to their beautiful parents. I will cherish his memory and I thank him from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you for allowing me to share on this site. Blessings to Steve, Mike, Jim and John. Love y'all!

My deepest condolences to Mr. Sparhawk's family and friends. Take as much time as you need to cope with your grief and always look to God, 'who loves us', for "everlasting comfort". (2 Thessalonians 2:16, 17)
