Dear Lee:

I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like you will always have wonderful memories of a marriage rich with people and ideas.

Dear Lee and all Ed's family,

With a full heart of long memories over many years we extend our prayers and condolences to Lee and the entire family. It was good to talk to Lee a couple of days ago. As I told her, Ed and I have for years exchanged birthday cards. I guessed I would not have one this year. What should appear today, July 6, and mailed July 3 was a card from Ed!
Brian Doyle's Spirited Men (2004) called writing the attempt to stare God in the eye. Ed did that many times in his living. Thanks more than you can know.
