Judge Coughlin was a fair, kind and sensible judge and I loved the time I was assigned as a deputy DA in his courtroom. He brought a sense of humanity to each case that he heard. I am so sorry for the loss to all who knew and loved him.

We were shocked and terribly saddened with the news of Johns passing. He had so many memories yet to creat and impact so many more lives. We will cherish the wonderful times we shared with all of you and forever keep John in our prayers and thoughts.

Judge Coughlin was a great and noble man. He stood up for what he thought was right at all times. Both of us were litigants in front of him many times as public defenders and then as a private lawyers and we always knew we were appearing in front of a man with a strong moral compass. Off the bench he was warm and welcoming. He will be missed. Rest gently judge!
