It was such an honor to get to know her - back in the 80's when she was coming to LA often. Here's a great shot of our precious friend, shown backstage with Dick Clark and The Housewives (1989) - "At My Place" in Santa Monica, CA

Oh my God! I am so heartbroken!

I have been trying to find my dear, sweet friend for SO many years! Every now and then, I would check Facebook or LinkedIn to see if I could find her.

Maxine and I became very close friends when she recorded her phenomenal album on Rocshire Records. Maxine had the voice of an angel, and a smile that could only make you respond in kind.

I introduced Maxine to Famous Amos cookies, and she would call the company limo driver to pick up her up at midnight, and they would show up at my apartment, and she would wake me from a sound sleep to go take the hour drive with her. Although I would be furious at first, it was virtually impossible to stay upset with her. She would say, "Oh, Vinnie," and just grin with that girlish charm that she had. I am so sad that I was not able to see her one more time. I always thought that one day we would reconnect.

When she wrote the credits on her LP, she wrote, "To Vinnie, for all of the little things that you do." So, when I asked her about that, she said, "Letting me call you in the middle of the night, going with me to get the cookies, and just being a true friend." That meant so much to me. For all of you that knew her and were a part of her life, you have my deepest sympathy, particularly Lucas - you were the light of her life! We met only once, but you were adorable! She loved her "Papa" dearly.

My heart hurts. I was not expecting this when I took a chance and typed her name in the search line tonight. I used to watch America's Got Talent and The Voice, just waiting to be surprised to see her traipse onstage barefoot!

Max, I always loved you and always will. You were the most talented female singer I have ever heard. I am sure that the angels are appreciating your beautiful voice. I am so thankful that I still have an LP of yours to enjoy your voice when I am down. I will always cherish our friendship. I love you, My Dear, Dear Friend!

I knew Maxine back in 1982 when she would sit in with the Danielle Nicole Band I was playing with around Denver and in the mountains. Beautiful sassy soul with a powerhouse voice. When she made her first album with Dick Darnell, she recorded a song of mine called "Day by Day" which was my first song to be published and provide a royalty check (sadly before Rockshire Records folded). She was easy to love and a lot of fun, so it saddens me to discover now that she has passed. Had I stayed in Colorado I would have liked to work with her more. RIP and condolences to all her family.
