With my parents living across from Mike for decades, he has always been a stand-out member of the neighborhood to us. And especially since my Father passed over 14 years ago, Mike has looked out for and done all he could to help my Mother, and she, him. I always looked forward to seeing him when I was there visiting, especially coming out and watching me while doing home improvements - I'd joke with him that he was supervising me but in reality, he always would offer to help or lend a tool to make my job easier.

I missed Mike during the past few months as he was dealing with his health and will miss him going forward, not just when I return but also today from nearly 10,000 miles away. And I'm sure Mike's group of friends that meet up in the mornings down at McDonald's have missed him and will going forward. When my Uncle got to the point that he was not able to join them any longer, Mike was sure to remind me that they missed having him around. And I know that my Mother will miss him dearly. That is certainly the sign of a good man.

Yvonne & Larry, I am glad that I got to know you better over the last few months (under unfortunate circumstances). You know that every time I saw you pull up to Mike's house, I was hoping that Mike was with you. You also know that as strong of a man that Mike was, if he couldn't make it through this, no one could. But I think I know you enough to know that you are celebrating Mike's life, as he would want it. As I said, I will miss Mike when I am back there, but I will miss you both as well. It was quite admirable of you to devote so much of yourselves to Mike, and I am sure your Dad appreciated it. Good luck in all of your future endeavors.

I certainly admire that Mike was not one to sit and watch life pass him by. He was always on the go somewhere doing something that he enjoyed. He certainly lived each and every one of his 93 years! Rest in peace Mike.
