Mildred Allwein and my son both entered my life at about the same time and, as a result of that timing, Mildred and I became friends and, as my son grew older, he and Mildred became friends, as well. They remained so until Mildred was called to her heavenly home last month. I loved listening to Mildred's stories of her adventures from her younger days, of her love for her family, and of her love of Easter and her faith in God. She was a true friend, the kind who made me laugh and cry, who was excited when my wife and I found out that our son would be a big brother, who talked with me about baby names and nicknames, and whose smile and eyes lit up like nothing else could when we would talk about our children and families. It is that smile, those blue eyes that I have been picturing in my mind over the past couple of weeks and I know that I am not the only one who misses them. I thank God that we will meet again, but, until then, Mildred will be greatly missed.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It is so hard to lose someone we love in death. May our Heavenly Father give you the comfort and peace that you need now and in the days ahead. John 6:40
