Max was my mentor and a friend to my family. In 1976, he hired me to teach social studies at Pecos Junior High School. Because of that, we moved from Illinois to Colorado where have enjoyed living ever since. Thank you, Max! He even loaned his pony Patches to my daughter when she was eight years old so she could have a horse. Tommie and I will miss his friendship and sense of humor. He was a great man! Max Willsey made it so fun to be in school and in his class. We kept in contact after my graduation and always invited him and he would attend our class reunions of 1963 every five years always with a smile and a big hug. My prayers are with his family and I know the Lord will comfort you through this trying time. He was loved by many students and persons that knew him so well.

Condolences to the Willsey family. Mr Willsey was a fun teacher and overall nice guy. I babysat for the Willsey kids a few times in 1962-63. Susan Parrino Hester

When you were in the presence of Max, there was no one else there. He met you as one should. You were important to him and that easily made him important to you. I saw him help many of us with a word or an action that helped many progress to bigger and better things. He took note of your worth and if he could he would network out to other coaches and institutions. Many years later he recounted the amount of times I won at a postion...something I had not. He remembered you.
