Don Siefken was my cross country coach for two years and track coach for three. Don was one of the three coaches that believed in me. Don was the first cross country coach at Mason City with and abbreviated season and one runner in 1966. Don was the first team coach the following year. Don was always willing to spend extra time with me. A positive person in every way. A former bulldog it was always fun to listen to his stories about his athletic years at Drake. A part of my life will never be the same because I will never be able to stop by to see him again.

Mr. Siefken will be remembered for his compassion for every student he ever had ! He was
our drivers training teacher and ever so gentle with his ways. To this day I always think of him when I parallel park, he was the best ! Bob had him as a basketball coach and Mr Siefken left him with a great impression. Also we remember his beautiful wife and their daughter whom we only met on a Christmas card. Please except our heart felt sympathy ! He was a man/teacher who will never be forgotten.

After nearly fifty years, I have fond memories of my driver's training with Mr. Siefken. I was fortunate to have the pleasure of meeting him in Fareway grocery store this summer and also the opportunity to thank him. His words are ALWAYS with me when driving.

With Deepest Sympathy
