I had the privilege of being interviewed by Dean twice; what a pleasure that was; he was so good at what he did. One was an arranged story for UIHC on some medical topic; the other, a chance mention of the Women's March I'd been to (during the 90s); he saw the chance for another story to help Iowans.
Anda long time ago, but I think I'm rightI remember him as one of the group of men (several, including my husband, were Cornell faculty) who played tennis together in the courts that were a block from where we lived; I'd go over with my daughter in her stroller and we'd watch. Dean's courtesy was there, always. I am sorry for the loss.

What a great Man! I was a new RN at UIHC in 1985 and was in orientation with all the new employees when I met Dean. As part of the orientation, a question was posed to the new employees, "Why did you choose to work at UIHC?" My response was to get season tickets to Football. What do you know? He read my response. AND, sent me home season tickets!! I'll never forget that, and he didn't either. Five years or so ago I was at Mullets. There he was! Went over to say hi and tell him the story and he remembered my first name. He is simply one of the top 10, most decent and kind people I have ever met. Rest well Dean, see you on the flip side my friend. Love and hugs to your family

I am forever thankful that Eldean took the time at a family reunion to show me where our Grandma Borg lived in a cave outside Forest City, Iowa and the Indian encampment across the road. We jumped in his pick-up and stopped on the road in both directions and remembered our past. Love you and miss you. Thank you and God bless. Your cousin, Gloria Ostrander Bachler.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Borg family during this difficult time. May the fond memories of all the good times shared carry you through the sad times.
