Lowell was one-of-a-kind. He asserted his beliefs in a humorous, yet professional manner in the midst of his academic colleagues and friends. He got his point across and provided others the opportunity to chime in. It was fun to participate and watch!

Lowell took an interest in everyone around him--whether you were a student, staff, faculty member, acquaintance or passer-by!

I so enjoyed visiting with Lowell. He had an uncanny ability to make you smile. He was a staunch democrat, and I was a bit on the other side of the coin. He made me feel that it was okay to disagree.

Again, Lowell was one-of-a-kind. A mentor, a friend and one I will treasure forever and ever.
