Susan L. Allen

Des Moines - Susan Lynn Allen, 71, went with the angels on April 27, 2021.

Susie was born on October 12, 1949, in Des Moines to Richard and Betty Allen. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1968 and attended DMACC. Susie worked for Green Construction many years until they relocated to Texas, and also Riccelli's Restaurant and Connie's Fine Foods. She was a friend of Bill W. for over 40 years.

Her kind, loving heart and positive attitude were unique gifts that she possessed. These were cherished by all who knew her. She was sweet, as the chocolate she loved to eat. For over 20 years, Susie volunteered at the Blank Park Zoo; as animals were her passion. She was a hard worker, enjoyed watching Dr. Pol and the Andy Griffith Show, rocking out to Aerosmith and Steven Tyler, and loving her cats; Patches, Trixie, and Sweetie.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Craig. Surviving Susie are her sisters Carolyn Mullenix and Christine Allen; her beloved cats; and numerous friends, and relatives.

A Celebration of Life service will be held later this summer. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League or the Blank Park Zoo.

Those of us that are left from Green Construction have fond memories of Susy running around the office delivering mail and running the copy center

So sorry to hear my cousin Susie has passed on. I’ll always remember the road trip to Washington, DC, with our moms.
