Dearest Goodman family,

My deepest and sincerest condolences. Words simply can not do justice to the man that was Arnie. I will still try my best to put a few thoughts down.

I worked for Arnie for almost two years. Ever since my first day at work, there was a certain positivity about him. He would smile first and then say anything - no matter how stressful the situation around him - which always left me wondering about how content a man he was. Content and very blessed. Every morning I looked forward to going to work simply because of the positive and cheerful environment Arnie helped create at the ASR office. He treated me like a family member and for that I will always fondly remember him.

From his extensive knowledge of diverse and gourmet foods (ranging from chopped liver to candies and even beyond), to the different types of restaurants and his general knowledge about things around him, you could tell Arnie was a man who had seen the world. It's as if Arnie knew everyone. Ask him about pizza and he knew the tastiest places for pizza around. Businesses? Same thing. Arnie knew everyone and everything. He once jokingly called himself the wise old man of Michigan. I dare not disagree.

Arnie was a man who always looked for solutions to any problems that arose and thought hard and deep about issues. A thoughtful, intelligent man is fairly easy to spot. Arnie was that man. There wasn't a problem that Arnie could not solve. I think this was one quality that I really learned from him.

Arnie was a family man too. On Christmas lunches when all employees met up, my wife and I always got the very positive and harmonious vibe from him and Gayle. We adored that. He always talked about his children so fondly too especially Nicole. He was very kind to hand-pick a gift for my little daughter when she was born a few months ago and told me my life is about to be changed. I could tell the loving way he said it that he loved his daughters so deeply. He held my 3 year old boy and spolied him with suckers and candy at the Christmas lunches both times. Easy to tell he was soft and warm hearted. People - especially children - were just attracted to him.

Circle of life can be joyful and bring pain at the same time. C'est la vie. My family and I will be praying for Arnie. May God give strength to the Goodman family. Sending lots of love, thoughts and prayers.
