I knew Capers as Officer Harper, back in the mid-late 60's. One of his assignments was Newton elementary School in NW Detroit at Asbury Park & Curtis. He was a wonderful person who set a positive example for all of us attending Newton School at the time. As I was the Captain of the Safety Patrol, he would come and check with me every morning to make sure everything was fine. On cold mornings when we would have hot chocolate, I always made sure his was extra good so he would always drop in. It must have worked as he came by nearly every morning! He was truly a wonderful person whom will surely be missed. RIP sir, as I came back to check on you some 45-50 years later. That's how much of an impression you left with me! Your family is truly blessed, and i know for sure, that they know that!

I knew your dad from Walton Woods, he was a good friend to my sister Josephine who passed away in April. Capers was truly a gentleman and a warm and caring individual. I always enjoyed his company especially on field trips. May he Rest In Peace, my condolences to all the family.

Capers was a dear friend and an example to all. He was prayerful and sincere. I always teased him about being my brother. My oldest Brother was born in May, 1920 but he died in 1985. I will pray to him. Donna Schlaff
