Hammond Dr. John E. Hammond, age 92, passed away October 30, 2016. Born June 2, 1924 in New Philadelphia, OH to the late Henry and Catherine Hammond. He received his bachelor's degree from Otterbein College before graduating from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He was on staff at Doctors Hospital for over 40 years and was a physician at Masters Clinics of Columbus and staff doctors at Marysville Women's Prison. He loved being a member of The Singing Buckeyes, a chapter of The Barbershop Harmony Society. He is preceded in death by wife Ernestine Hammond and siblings Catherine Zulauf, Robert and Granville Hammond. John is survived by children, Heather (James) Van Fossen and Dwight Hammond; grandchildren, Dr. Kelly Van Fossen (Dr. Duke Matsuyama), Laura (Shane) Inskeep, and Becky Van Fossen; great-grandchildren, Grace, Addie, and Ella Inskeep and Matthew and Emmie Matsuyama. Committal service will be Wednesday, November 2, 11 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 6959 W Broad St. Family and friends may gather afterward from 2:30-4 p.m. at Friendship Village, 6000 Riverside Dr., enter off Birchton St. and follow signs for the Meadows Entrance. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations in honor of John to the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation or OhioHealth Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to O. R. WOODYARD CO.
