I was friends with Julius for many years. We me around 1990 and stayed in touch through our shared passion of photography. We also shared many a fine lunch or dinner together, at which he often would not let me pay! Julius and I had a photo show together at the Grandview library. He was so humble about his long time talent that I probably still don't all that he had published. I know in his last years he was trying to get them all his work organized. I hope that his brother and friends are keeping them now. I didn't know of Julius' passing until March 17th, 6 months after. I would have been at his memorial if I had known but I am glad he had so many of his friends and buddies with him. He was very much like family to me and I will never forget his true kindness and wonderful smile. Our shared sense of humor kept us laughing too. Julius....I am sorry you are gone and I miss you! Thanks so much for being my friend.

I have just learned today that my dear Julius has passed. He was a regular customer of mine at Salvis Bistro. He was a pleasure to serve. He had been coming in for 5 to 7 years. He was always taking pictures. Such a kind man. I'll miss seeing him walk through those doors ready for his potatoe soup and pastasalvi. I hope to see him again someday!

When I started handgun shooting at age 37, Julius helped to guide me into USPSA/IPSC and Bowling Pin competition, and became a good friend. We had many shared outings, and many shared meals! I've created a photo tribute page, showing some of my photos of Julius over the past 14 years at: http://home.columbus.rr.com/jmaass/

Julius hired me in 1972, and I worked for and with him for many years. He was a great boss and good friend, and always offered words of wisdom that extended well beyond the working world. I think of him often, and remember his photographic advice every time I carry my camera around. He will be missed.

I worked with Julius years ago in Air Pollution. He was always a courtly, gentle man, and I've thought about him often during the years of his retirement. He will be missed by many.
