Remembering in prayer and sending my condolences to Lesta's family and friends. Her compassion, courage, commitment and cookies will be greatly missed. I met Lesta in grad school at Ohio State while working as an undergraduate academic adviser. Her decision to join the Peace Corps was brave and inspirational as was her battle with cancer. Independently, but at about the same time, I decided to join the Army so it appears that we both saw federal service as a way to provide a meaningful life's work and, ironically, we both retired from federal service in 2013. Timing is everything and times with Lesta have been a blessing. May she rest in the Lord's peace.
