I was saddened to read of Bill's passing in Triangle Review. Bill and I were Triangle fraternity brothers at OSU. We reconnected when I worked briefly at Chase. "Wild Bill" was one-of-a-kind. My deepest condolences to Terri and the family.

I learned of Bill's (Wild Bill) passing through the Chapter Eternal section of Triangle Review. He was one of my pledge brothers. After a moment of sadness a smile came across my face as I thought of Bill's energy, wit, continuous smile, and willingness to help. My thoughts and prayers are with Bill and his family.

I first met Bill at CompuServe. He was so very patient with all my design changes and we became good friends. I was overjoyed when I started at the bank and heard he was here. I had the pleasure of working with him weekly for the last 10 years. He always took time to help answer any questions, and after we always caught up. He will be fondly remembered for his happy eyes and beard. Absolutely one of the best!

When I think of Bill, this quote by Charles Dickens comes to mind:

"Imagine one day struck out of your life, and think how different its course would have been....Think for a moment of the long chain of iron or gold, thorns and flowers, that would never have bound you, but for the formation of the first link on one memorable day." -Charles Dickens

One memorable day. The first time I met Bill, almost exactly 20 years ago, he was interviewing me for what became my first real job. It was just before Valentine's Day, and we were talking about our Valentine's Day plans with our families. He told me he was making a card for Terri. I've thought of that over the years, because it was a good reflection of who Bill wasHe loved and cherished his family, his heart was big, he put it into everything he did, and he had so much room in it.

He probably didn't even realize it, but the thread that led me to live and work in Boston began with him. My first job, his belief in me and support to continue going to the next level and the nextas well as to just keep on goingeven when things were tough; the people he subsequently introduced me to; and ultimately, the job in Columbus that, many years later, because of the skills that began with Bill, and the people I came to know as a result of knowing Billbecame a job in Boston.

So Bill, thank you for the career, and thank you for Boston. And thank you for sharing your wonderful perspective on the world, for all of the laughter until our sides ached, for the many cups of coffee with the gang at Cup O' Joe, and the endless belief in us. You will be missed by many.

Terri and family, I'm so very sorry for your loss. Sending you much love

Bill and I became friends while sharing an office at AccuRay in 1985. And that was it, he was my friend. The memories with he and Terri and my wife are numerous times of great food, conversation, and laughter. Bill will always be a part of me. I loved my friend very much! Much love and continued devotion to his beautiful family.

Terri, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Bill is likely the closest mortal to being on the other side in this life, that I know. Now he has crossed over and is home. He spread his Peace with our Taiji group and was pleasant and wise beyond his years. I learned as much from him as he did from me. His presence will be greatly missed. Nameste Bill

Bill and I worked together at WorldCom and when we left there, there was still a small connection between us since I became an adult Irish step dancer and met Terri, who also took the dance, and found out that she was his wife. I thought, "What a small world." So from time to time, I would still get to see Bill.
Terri, Zak, Deirdre, and all the rest of the family, I am so, so sorry for your lost. He was a good, kind man. He will be truly missed by many. My prayers go out to you all.

My heart is so sad hearing of Bill's passing. My daughter Shelby and I are long-time neighbors and have so many great memories of the Houston family. Deirdre and Shelby have grown up together playing and recently Deirdre used her great make-up skills getting Shelby ready for prom. I always remember Zak coming by to tell Deirdre it was time to come home and after they would leave I always thought Zak and Deirdre must take after their dad...so sweet, kind, gentle, and all around great people. This is true of the entire family. I have read the comments and cry but yet smile at all the wonderful words reflecting Bill's life.

I met Bill at JPMC, he sat one row over for a few years. A very sweet man who always had kind words and I enjoyed conversations with him when I'd see him in the hall. He left an impression on anyone who had the opportunity to talk to and know him. Thinking of his friends and family, so very sorry for your loss.

A lifetime ago it seems - when I was a student at Ohio State - I had a buddy - my best buddy. We got into so much mischief together. I shall miss you lil we meet again, Bill.

Even though distance separated us, whenever we got together, talked, emailed - we just picked up where we left off. I am grateful for the moments we had last weekend.

At OSU, in the fall, we used to sniff the air (in Ohio, mind you) and argue about whether or not it smelled like snow. It doesn't smell like snow very much in Ohio. Last evening, Bill, it did smell like snow. I figured you sent it to me from somewhere up above.

Love to the whole Houston-Maloney clan. Sending lots of prayers your way.

Bill's life was an example to follow, he helped many and I am grateful to have known him. It was many years ago that he helped the displaced workers by arranging training, but I have never forgotten! His help was a stepping stone which launched my current career at Nationwide Insurance. I was very shocked and saddened to hear this news. My deepest condolences!

I was shocked to hear of Bills passing, we were just chatting the other day as we often did in the halls at Chase. I remember when my wife was laid off at CPS 12 years ago he plugged her into the PMP class he was organizing to help the displaced workers. It helped my wife get back on her feet again afterwards. One of the many small kindnesses he was known for. We will miss you Bill.
