14 February 1942
Passed away peacefully last night with his loving family surrounding him with all their aroha at 8.24pm. Jim will be brought home to rest at his home. The tangihanga will commence from 6.00pm tonight where he will lay until Tuesday 28th September 2021. Please contact Jason for service details on 021527667. Dad's service will also be livestreamed for those unable to attend (precautions are also in place to protect everyone attending Re:Covid throughout the entirety of the Tangihanga). Jim will then be laid to rest at Parahaki Urupa (cemetery), Pakipaki. Following our last goodbyes the family wishes to invite you back to our family home at 10 Muritai Cres for light refreshments. Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of your amazing husband and father and grandfather.
You are all so blessed to have had such a guiding light in your lives. Sorry I cannot attend his funeral service due to lockdown in Auckland.

Very sorry to hear of Jim's passing. He was a great part of my life as the daughter of Basil and Lorna Gerbes. He was a such a nice man and I loved spending time with him. I remember his kindness when my dad passed away. Sending my love and regards to all the family. Sharron Rea (nee Gerbes).
