My huge condolences to Matt's family and work family. I had the privilege of negotiating many contracts with Matt over a number of years. A true businessman and gentleman!

As a close friend of Emilie's from Melbourne, my deepest condolences to you and your mum and brother, wider family and friends.

I am so very sorry for your loss after a long heath battle. How strong and loving you have all been.

Matt would have been so grateful to you all through the challenging times and great times. He has clearly touched many lives and it will be a great loss to so many.

Embrace your memories of times spend with him over the years.
Forever in your hearts.

My dear Sarah

We did not meet in either my visits to NZ or during Mstt's many visits to Cervantes in Western Australia however he regaled many many stories of his joy and love for you and Alex and Emiliie.

Matt was such an important part of the BSS family and will be sorely missed as a business partner and dear friend.

I sit in Sydney airport on my way to Wellington for Mondays celebration of such an outstanding man and I simply remember the red wine, the cray fish and the stories in our many times in Perth.

Matt was an inspiration to our graduating class, and a magnificent representative of all that is great in our shared military heritage and humanity. He was a big personality and we will all miss him.

Rest in peace Portsea Graduate Beattie.

Matthew was a wonderful friend and supporter of the Wellington College community, both as Head Prefect in 1972 and as a superb President of the Old Boys for many years. His vision and support was instrumental in the highly successful 150th celebrations in 2017. On a personal level, Matt was always unfailingly loyal and supportive to me during my 22 years as Headmaster. We had been friends together at St Kentigern School in Auckland from 1960-67 and it was wonderful to rekindle that friendship after Matt returned to Wellington after his highly successful career in the military. He will be missed deeply by the entire Wellington College community.
Much love to Sarah , Matt's immediate family and the wider Beattie whanau.
