Dear Helen, Stan, Vaughan, Lance and Marianne
We are very sorry that Rick has left you. We couldn't attend his funeral as I have had a cold and in this day and age I thought it best to stay home.
I first met Rick in 2000 when I introduced what RST was doing and he was very welcoming and enthusiastic towards what we started. He was such as great man. I also saw him on occasion at Canoe Polo watching his grandson and always had a story and a chuckle about what was happy. He will be sadly missed but I am sure there will be many great stories about his life.

I was very saddened to hear of Rick's passing. My thoughts are with Helen, Stan, Vaughan, Lane, Marianne and the wider Goodman family. Rick was a special man with special qualities. I will always have memories of
him meeting with me with a welcoming smile and big handshake. I especially enjoyed visiting him on site at the business, hearing about present and future projects and his ongoing investment in his loved "Toolbox". Together with his family he has created an icon of a business which has been and will continue to be a huge contributor to building infrastructure in the North Island . Rick you will be missed. A big man with a big kind heart.

Dear Helen and the rest of the Goodman family.

I was shocked to learn of Rick's passing. Please accept my sincere condolences.

Rick was a truly exceptional man. He looked you in the eye when he shook (crushed!) your hand and his word was his bond. He had good old-fashioned values, was very family orientated and had a keen sense of humour.

I well remember a conversation I had with Rick some years ago. I asked him how the business was going. He replied that there wasn't much work in the pipeline but he quickly added that no one would be made redundant. Instead, a sinking lid policy would be invoked. This little story epitomises Rick he constantly put others first.

Rick would give you the shirt off his back if you asked for it.

He will be greatly missed.

Hi Helen,

We popped in to view Ricks wheelchair and amazing car set up with my grandad just a few short weeks ago. I was extremely saddened to hear of his sudden passing! In the short time I stood talking to him I could tell his strong love of family & he talked so fondly about all of all his grandchildren.

Although we only popped in briefly, Rick really changed my grandads mindset that day. He went home & really has excelled since. The pep talk and the sheer motivation Rick showed that day was amazing. I was in awe with his determination & the way the two of you worked together.

Once again my sincerest condolences.

Kindest regards,
Jessica Blair

We were sorry to hear of the news of Rick passing. The construction industry will miss a leader who started at small beginnings to grow what Goodmans is today.

Our Steve (Mexted) passed away only last week also and so we know what you are going through. Both were fantastic gentlemen, hard workers and ran successful construction companies in Wellington. They will both be dearly missed.

Our sincere condolences
