Alastair Aitken Obituary

AITKEN Alastair (Biggar) Professor of Protein Biochemistry at the University of Edinburgh died of pancreatic cancer, on February 6, 2014, aged 66 years, he never allowed the disease to defeat him and he carried on with his sense of humour intact right until the end. A celebration of his life will be held at 1 pm, on Thursday, February 13, at Mortonhall Crematorium, Edinburgh. Family flowers only, donations to Pancreatic Cancer UK and Parkinson's UK.

I worked in Alastair's lab in London the mid 1990s. He was a really great guy and an excellent scientist. Just discovered today he had died. So sorry. Harry Martin
