Daniel Gonzalez
February 2, 1937 - June 5, 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Daniel "Nelo" Gonzalez, age 81, announces his passing on June 5, 2018. Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, Daniel took special pride in being a Bowie Bear, his commitment to civil rights and education, which he instilled in his children and grandchildren. Daniel was a lifelong civil service employee. During his tenure, he received several awards and accolades.
Daniel will be forever remembered by his children, Maria "Nita" Blackwell, Cindy Maesse, Liz Rivas and Danny Gonzalez. Daniel is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Public visitation will take place at San Jose Funeral Home East located at 10950 Pellicano Dr, on Tuesday, June 12 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. With the recitation of the rosary starting at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church located at 10970 Bywood Dr, Wednesday June 13, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. Interment will take place at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.

Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the U.S. Armed Forces during the Cold War, Millions of Americans slept safe at night because you and your fellow Servicemen stood ready to defend our Country. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
