Ofelia H. Saenz

El Paso - Lord of life, and master of our destinies, in your hands we silently place our dearly beloved mother, Ofelia Saenz. May she live eternally in unending peace, in your loving presence, O, Father of mercy.

Ofelia Saenz born on November 05, 1924 left this earth on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 to live eternally in heavenly peace. Our mother is predeceased by her husband and our father Raul Saenz, son David Eliseo Saenz, sisters Alejandrina , Elvira, brothers Jose, Roberto, and Carlos. She is survived by sisters Carmen and Aurora, sister-in-law Delia Hernandez, children Norma Flores (Ben), Berta Saenz, Yolanda Carrillo, Humberto Saenz (Margie), Irma Bocanegra (Jesus), Fr. Jose Saenz, and Sylvia Aguilar (Louie). She is also survived by grandchildren Rachel, Ben, Melissa, Sandra, Benjamin, Joseph, Bernadette, Patricia, Karen, Jonathan, Ryan, and Raul and several great-grandchildren.

Mom was a devoted, dedicated wife and loving parent with a kind heart and endless patience. She lived to serve her family and she did so with passion, love, and a smile. She sang soothing songs to all her grandchildren and remembered birthdays which were always celebrated with a personal "Happy Birthday" serenade. In her later years, Mom enjoyed the fruits of her labor and supported us as we experienced our own trials and challenges in life.

When we needed love the most Mom was always there for us. A warm meal and a heartfelt conversation that included smiles, laughter and sometimes tears were always the perfect remedy to any moment. Mom has served her purpose and a piece of her is in all of us. We now carry the responsibility to pass her legacy on, and as she would want, we will do so with a kind heart, endless patience, love, passion, and a smile.

We appreciate the loving care and support that care -taker Lupe Perales and also The Bartlett Nursing Home staff provided Mom during the last stage of her life. Public visitation will take place from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. A Rosary service limited to forty immediate family members will be livestreamed and can be accessed at the following link: https://youtu.be/mEGX5Wbe-HA from San Jose Funeral Home-East on 10950 Pellicano Street on Thursday, January 14 at 7:00 P.M. Burial service will be private. COVID 19 protocol will be strictly enforced for everyone's safety. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing measures while attending visitation services.

She was my madrina but I never really knew her in that role. She was my father’s sister and, as my Tia Ofie, is how I knew her. I remember going to visit her at her various houses throughout my youth but the best part of all that was the great food she made. She was a sweet, loving aunt and I always tried to visit her on my trips home to El Paso from the various locations I lived at. God rest her soul.
