It is with great sadness that the family of Daniel de la Riva Lara "El Flaco" announces his passing on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the age of 85. Daniel was a resident of El Paso, Texas. He was born in Camargo, Chihuahua on September 22, 1932 to Cruz de la Riva and Maria de los Angeles Lara. Daniel was a gifted craftsman. He worked in construction for over 55 years and became an expert in his field of carpentry. He enjoyed working on cars and starting new projects. Daniel was a blessing to his family and friends taking every opportunity to share his knowledge and skills. He was deeply respected and admired. He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Elvira, and his daughter, Irma. He will forever be missed by his children: Maria Garcia, Roberto de la Riva, Elvira de la Riva, Teresita Nuñez and Daniel de la Riva, Jr. Left to continue his legacy are his 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. A celebration of Daniel's life will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 from 5:00PM to 9:00PM with a prayer service at 7:00PM at Mt. Carmel Funeral Home (1755 N. Zaragosa Rd.). Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church (4800 Byron St.). Interment: Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery (4848 Alps St.).
