Rodney Alexander Olivas

El Paso - It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, Rodney Olivas, at the young age of 48, on April 15, 2021. Though we are heartbroken, we are comforted knowing he will always be watching over us and is now in the presence of God. Above all, he was a very proud father and family always came first for him. He worked at the County Auditor's Office since June of 1990 as an Admin Assistant and Web Writer. He was a people person and he had the gift of making friends with perfect strangers. He enjoyed vacationing with family, woodworking, keeping a pristine lawn, fishing, and decorating outside for Christmas. He was also very supportive of his son, Matthew, in all his school and band activities. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 21 years, Yvette; his beloved son Matthew; his mother Josie Olivas; sister Nanette and brother-in-law Ken Akachi; brother and sisters-in-law Reuben and Brandi Gutierrez, Michelle and Art Avila, Veronica and Marco Contreras; In-laws Mary and Jerry Flores, several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews; and last but certainly not least, his dog Oreo. He is preceded in death by his uncle Mike Franco, and father Roderick Olivas. Every heart he touched will forever be filled with fond memories of his love and kindness and he will be deeply missed by all of us. Visitation will be Thursday, April 22, 2021 from 4pm to 8pm with Rosary at 6pm at Mt. Carmel Funeral Home, 1755 N. Zaragoza, El Paso, TX 79936 and will be live-streamed. Funeral Mass will be Friday, April 23, 2021 at 8:30am at St. Stephen Deacon & Martyr Church, 1700 George Dieter, El Paso, TX, 79936. Interment to follow at 10am at Evergreen Cemetery East, 12400 Montana, El Paso, TX 79938.
