Scott E. Gaehle, 61, Union, passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021, at Mercy Hospital Washington.
Scott was born Nov. 1, 1959, in Kirkwood, to Alvin Alroy and Shirley Mae (Gilmore) Gaehle. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk, from April 3, 1980, to Aug. 1, 1984. Scott was employed in the plastics manufacturing industry for most of his working career; however, he very much enjoyed working at Jellystone Campground where he was able to be outdoors. Scott was a quiet man who mostly stayed to himself. He enjoyed collecting baseball cards and knives. He was loved by his family and will be missed.
Scott is survived by one brother, Dennis Gaehle, Pacific; one sister, Sheila Pogue and husband Bob, Washington; three nieces, Kim Bartley and husband Bill, Union, Kris Ferris and husband Tim, Beaufort, and Kari Huff and husband Matt, New Haven; five great-nephews; one great-niece; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Shirley Gaehle.
Graveside services, with full military honors, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, with Pastor John Blackmore officiating.
