Barbara Ann Encababian
NAZARETH
Barbara Ann (Shimer) Encababian, 88, of Nazareth, PA, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2020, at Gracedale Nursing Home, of Nazareth.
She was the wife of the late James P. Encababian Jr., who passed away on August 26, 1986. Barbara was born on February 3, 1932, in Easton, PA. She was the beloved daughter of the late Lloyd A. Shimer, who passed in 1974, and late Charlotte Jane (Derr) Shimer, who passed in 2005.
Barbara was a Nazareth Area High School graduate, Class of 1949. She earned her bachelor's degree in Education at West Chester University in 1953. She continued her education and earned her master's degree at Lehigh University in 1966. Barbara taught in the Reading School District from 1953-1964 and Nazareth Area School District from 1964-1987, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Nazareth Women's Club and Northampton County Chapter of Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees. She belonged to Hope Lutheran Church, of Tatamy, PA.
She is survived by sister, Patricia Auerbach, of Nazareth; nieces, Kathy Paskewicz (Harry) of Bethlehem, Cindy Heaton (John) of Ohio; six great-nieces and great-nephews, Adam Hoffman (Andrea), Tim Hoffman, Steven Hoffman, Mary Beth Miller (Dan), Emily Paskewicz, and Michael Paskewicz; great-great-nephew, Benjamin Hoffman and great-great-niece, Meredith Hoffman.
Family and friends may gather on Friday, December 4, 2020 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Joseph F. Reichel Funeral Home Inc., 220 Washington Park, Nazareth, PA 18064. A Service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home presided by Pastor Herbert C. Dolich. Burial will be held at Northampton Memorial Shrine, of Easton. Social distancing will be practiced, face masks are required. A maximum of 10 visitors will be allowed in the funeral home to pay respects at one time, rotations will be in place to accept all visitors.
