David A. DeWalt Jr.

David A. DeWalt, Jr., 66, of Palmer Township, PA, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 in St. Luke's Hospital, Anderson Campus, following a lengthy illness.
David was born on July 23, 1954, in Ephrata, PA, a son of the late David A. DeWalt, Sr., and Eleanor L. (Kilhefner) DeWalt. He was very proud to have spent the majority of his life as a resident of West Easton.
David was a graduate of Wilson High School, class of 1972, where he was a member of the National Honor Society and the soccer team. He graduated from Lafayette College in 1976, earning a Bachelor of Arts in History. He continued his education by taking numerous college courses for many years. David was employed for 44 years by Securitas Security Systems, most recently as a loss prevention specialist at Fanatics, Inc. He was a member of Safety First Volunteer Fire Co., of West Easton, and for many years he assisted at the West Easton polling places. David was a voracious reader and loved listening to music of all genres. He owned an extensive collection of several thousand books and record albums. He also enjoyed watching vintage television shows and classic films. David was an avid follower of high school, college, and professional sports, especially the pro teams from Philadelphia and New York. Well-known for his wonderful sense of humor, David enjoyed sharing a laugh with others. David will always be remembered for his kind, gentle, and humble spirit, his keen intellect, and his ability to engage others in conversation regarding almost every topic imaginable. The family will be forever grateful for the loving care and companionship he provided for their mother during her final years.
David was a devoted and beloved son, grandson, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his sister Linda Rush and her husband Donald of Easton; brothers Mark DeWalt and wife Teri of Austin, TX; and Kyle DeWalt and wife Deborah of Whitehall; nephews Donald Rush (Katy) of Carlisle and Matthew Rush (Allison) of Irvine, CA; and Ryan and Cory DeWalt of Austin; nieces Kelly Beltzner and Tonia Mitchell of Allentown; also, aunts Kathryn Sweigart and Claire Sturtevant of Ephrata, and many cousins.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Morello Funeral Home, Inc., of Palmer Township. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Schoenersville Cemetery in Allentown. In lieu of flowers, contributions in David's memory can be made to the Davita Palmer Dialysis Center, 30 Community Drive, Easton, PA 18045 (memo: Patient Emergency Fund).
