Paul was one of the best. I met him in April of ‘85 when my band TC and The Tennessee Deluxe opened a show in Americus, Ga. I played golf with Willie, Paul, Budrock, Poodie and a few others in Spicewood, Tx. Paul and I hit it off on the stage in Americus when he picked me up and hugged me like I was his son. RUP Paul, you were the best.

God rest your soul, of course. I never knew you. But I know your son Daryl, DW that's what we always called him. He was truly a very good friend to me, and I used to love to listen to all the stories he would tell, about the times on the road, and just that lifestyle. He is truly one of the best persons, I've ever known. Hope that your drums, keep that beat of eternity, as they did, in that outlaw country genre. Nothing but love. Thank you Paul, you're life made a difference....

I met Paul a number of years ago with my wife on their bus during a concert at Wolf Trap. His brother, Mickey, Jody everyone was there. Paul and I were talking about the stock market when he hands me his retirement portfolio of trades, Micky has me going through his new laptop windows configuration....I'm strumming Willie's Guitar when he asks me to play that chord again. Willie and I spoke for a good 45 minutes....my wife and I danced to the music on the stage left of the band. What a gift. I could see the audience. Paul we hit it off immediately...he was a wonderful guy and loved his family. He was very proud of them.You could have not met a kinder, principled, and very gentle soul. Pouty, Billy and Willie, his sister Bobbie....our deepest sympathy in your time of loss. Just remember the love you had, and the love you give back always comes back X 10. Paul was just a fantastic person, that smile and the laughs we shared are an honored gift of who he will always be. Billy.

Sorry to hear of Paul's passing. I met Paul on a few occasions and visited with him on his bus after concerts. His wife was a great-niece of my stepmother, Mary Nell Mabry Sullivan. Paul would speak of his wife and sons with great love and pride and share pictures of them. The world has lost a great man.

I had the opportunity to hang out with Paul and Willie a couple of times . Once at San Francisco's annual Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival , and in San Francisco's Fillmore District @ the Fillmore . As a volunteer at HSBG , I has access to all the musicians and I confess , I took advantage of every moment of it gathering all the autographs I could gather on my old '46 Martin D-18 , and Paul's being one of them . What a very kind and generous man .

I know he Is with The Lord now! He was a very special man to me I was at the Fourth of July picnic at the Pernales country club In Austin I think it was 1973 and I had a severe heat stroke I was not going to make it, Paul heard and called Willies helicopter to come down and get me and take me into Austin to the hospital he saved my life and I have been forever grateful to this man! God bless you Paul and thank you!

Back in the late 80's & early 90's, D. W. (whom I had known for over 10 years) along with Tina lived at my house in Rowlett. During that time I met and spoke with Paul along with Janie several times. One thing I learned after my mom & dad died is that they still live in your heart, your memories and the impact they had on you in molding who you are today. Paul and Willie's friendship reminds me of that of David and Jonathan. I was happy to learn that their uniting in that bond proved to be beneficial for the both of them. Willie even wrote a song about it. May all of you find comfort in knowing that God cares for you. Let the music continue!

I have seen Willie and Family at least 35 times and will be attending the Houston Rodeo on March 4th.We alway look for Paul and needless to say it will be sad not to have him on stage.I met Paul after a show in Galveston and told him I go all over to see Willie - He asked me if I was having fun and I said hell yea ! He put his hand on my shoulder and said with a big smile - that's what its all about ! The Good Lord has a New Drummer Boy ! Rest in Peace Paul
