I think it was about 25 to 30 years ago that my wife Ruby and I met Dr. John Titus and his dear wife Nalini for the first time, during a Charismatic Conference at the Franciscan University of Steubenville, OH. During a short break I made a brief remark comparing the Steubenville Conference to the one that was being conducted by the Vincentian priests at the Divine Retreat Centre, Muringoor, India. My friends showed interest to know more about that new Evangelization program.

When I came back to Canada, I mailed to the Titus family two old copies of a Vachanolsavam magazine, published by the Vincentians.

A few months later, when John went to India, following the death of his father, he called a prayer meeting where he distributed a hundred copies of Vachanolsavam. He has now become an evangelizer. Our families became good friends. Sometime later when my wife and I were guests of John and Nalini, I saw one evening their son was leading a Bible Study with his friends at their home.

In the years that followed Dr. Titus wanted to have a retreat centre in USA run by the Vincentian priests of India. The Divine Mercy Healing Centre at Washington, NJ, is the fruit of his toil and sacrifice.

Dr. John's example inspired me and our organization, the Family Prayer Mission, to strive for a similar retreat centre in Canada; and thank God, the Divine Retreat Centre Toronto is the result.

The story of "two torn magazines" which Nalini sometimes jockingly remarks led to the creation of two retreat centres, in USA and Canada.

I am sure Jesus has already ushered John to the Eternal Father's throne. I am praying that he may now intercede for all of us, family and friends, especially for those who work for the evangelization of USA and Canada.
