Lawrence "Larry" I. Smith, 71, of Bushkill Twp., PA, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 12, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospital - Anderson Campus, of Easton.
He was the loving husband of Jeanette "Sue" (Teague) Smith. They celebrated 49 years of marriage on October 2nd. Larry was born on October 23, 1948 in Buffalo, NY. He was the son of the late Lawrence Smith and Ruth Marie (Ramsey) Smith.
Larry graduated from Somerville High School, of NJ, Class of 1966, where he wrestled and is now in the Somerville High School Athletic Hall of Fame for his accomplishments on the mat. After marrying his loving wife Sue, they had 3 children together and Larry spent his time away from work for coaching and traveling to baseball, gymnastics and wrestling events with his kids.
After retiring, he enjoyed spending time with family and spoiling his great and grandchildren. He was able to continue his passion for wrestling by following his grandsons and the Nazareth Wrestling team. Larry was also an avid New York Giants and New York Mets fan and loved spending Sunday's with family cheering on his favorite teams.
He was a foreman for Novak Machine Shop, for 25 years. He was also a machinist for Fres-Co System USA Inc., of Telford, PA.
In addition to his wife, Larry is missed by son, Matthew Smith and wife Jennifer, of Nazareth; daughter, Shannon Borlodan, of Fleetwood; grandchildren, Madison, Andrew, Ryan, Kaylee, Brianna, Dakota, and Tristan; great-grandchildren, Emmarie and Alaynie; siblings, Cheryl Smith and husband Marvin Albert, of Cranbury, NJ, Barbara Moore and husband Edward, of Fort Wayne, IN, Roger Smith and wife Toni, of Belmar, NJ; also by many nieces and nephews. He is having a heavenly reunion with his son, Kyle P. Smith, who passed away on December 5, 2015.
Family and friends may gather on Friday, October 16, 2020 from 6:00-7:30 PM at the Joseph F. Reichel Funeral Home Inc., 220 Washington Park, Nazareth, PA 18064. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. Social restrictions will be practiced with the requirement of facial masks. We never had the opportunity to meet Larry, but from what we hear about him from others, it was our loss. He loved my Cousin Sue and his family. God made a good man.
