Ruth M. Bankert

Ruth Marie (Swartz) "Nana" Bankert, 102, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at SpiriTrust Lutheran Village at Utz Terrace, Hanover. She was the loving wife, for 55 years of Richard B. Bankert who passed away in February 13, 1988.
Born February 18, 1915 in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ellen M. (Miller) Swartz Depuy.
Ruth was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover. She was the office manager of her family business, Royale Dairy, Hanover for many years. Mrs. Bankert was a member of the Hanover Soroptimist Club and served as president from 1958 – 1960. Ruth always looked forward to traveling with her brother Paul to Europe, every fall, for many years. Ruth was an avid reader and enjoyed going to the library and also was an accomplished piano player.
Ruth is survived by three grandchildren, Debra B. Fake and her husband, Michael of Hanover, Thomas A. Bankert and his wife, Tammy of Hanover and Richard G. Bankert and his wife, Jackie of Pawleys Island, SC; seven great- grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Richard Swartz Bankert; and three brothers, Charles, Paul, and Eugene Swartz.
A service to celebrate the life of Ruth Bankert will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, with Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Guthrie Memorial Library, 2 Library Place, Hanover, PA 17331.
