PRETORIUS Lew Rotary Tasmania mourns the loss of Past District Governor Lew Pretorius PHF. Lew was a dear friend to all in the Rotary family and everyone felt privileged to know him. He epitomised the Rotary motto of 'Service Above Self' and was a deeply compassionate man. His Rotary journey involved supporting many projects both locally and internationally. Lew's wife and partner in life Jan passed away in 2018. Heartfelt condolences to David, Lisa, Ivan, Fletch and the whole Pretorius family.

PRETORIUS, Lew Lew was a dear friend to all in the Rotary Club of Central Launceston. His belief in others was a gift. He made people see their own potential and had a non-wavering belief in those around him. He was a deeply compassionate man and devoted his life to helping others. He did not recognise his own gifts or his talent for bringing people together, yet he became our esteemed Club President. He then became District Governor for the then 51 clubs in Tasmania. Lew was an outstanding leader, he set the highest standards of service always in all the roles he embraced so willingly - local, state, national and international. He was the Rotarian's Rotarian and he excelled in Service Above Self. Lew would welcome you when you walked into a club meeting with a warm smile, he'd hand you your badge and ask how you and your family were. He cared deeply about all of us. Lew worked incredibly hard for our club and Rotary. If there was a job to do he was always there. Every single member of our Rotary Family felt privileged to know him. It is a year since Lew's wife, Jan, passed away and we remember her with love and gratitude. Jan was Lew's greatest supporter in Rotary and life. Lew would want us to recognise Jan as more than just a supporter. Her contribution was enormous. She was a PHF in her own right. They were a magic team. Jan and Lew are now back in each other's arms. Our deepest sympathies to the Pretorius Family on the passing of our dearly loved Lew. - The Board, Members and Partners of the Rotary Club of Central Launceston
