Helllo Gloria & Family
Not sure what made me think of you and Bud, maybe because we shared so many laughs and time together. Although, it was in a restaurant, it was still memorable. Sorry for the loss of Bud, he was truly a great man. I hope you are well and enjoying the grand children. Maybe Daniel can take you to Dedham Square the Big Bear Cafe and make a visit.

I have just read about the tremendous life Bud today as a young ambitious doctor. Bud lived everything I wish for and adored his family. My deepest condolences to his family for such a great loss. I am grateful for the lessons that I am learning from this great guy long after his passing and I must say he is my role model. May his soul rest in God's eternal peace.

Bud was a wonderful guy and Gloria is equally as wonderful. I think of them often and remember how much fun I had hiking with them in New Mexico. I have no doubt the world is a better place for having had Bud in the medical field with Gloria at his side. May he fly with the angels. I love you, Gloria. ♥

I was Buddy's other roomate (actually suitemate) for our last two years at Princeton. We were born the same year (1942), I had lived in Forest Hills next to Queens, we played and loved sports but were both less than varsity material, and, looking back, I think we were both immature even for our ages at the time. We were different but also very much alike in many ways. I had always intended to catch up with Buddy at some point - but that was almost sixty years ago. Very sadden to hear this news. Can't imagine a brain like Bud's being susceptible to Alzheimers. Atmore Baggot '63 ([email protected]).

Buddy, as he was known then, was my close buddy at Princeton from 1959-63. I was, and am, a Californian; he introduced to the part of New York that wasn't Midtown Manhattan. I'd only seen him once in the last half century, but he hadn't changed a whit. The world, and I, will miss him.

I met Bud and Gloria on a hiking trip in New Mexico. I immediately struck up a friendship with both of them and loved being in their company. Bud was a very kind man who enjoyed talking about his wife, his work and his family. I've thought about him often through the years since our trip. He and Gloria are unforgettable, and I am very happy to have known them. May he Rest in Peace with the Angels.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I did a one month nephrology rotation as medicine resident with Dr. Rose when he was at the Memorial Hospital in Worcester in 1978. I was very impressed with his knowledge and his ability to teach. We would end rounds in the library where we reviewed journals and jotted notes in cards not realizing that we were participating in the origins of Up to Date. I am a nephrologist today because of Dr. Rose. He was very kind to pick up the phone and call Dr. Gulyassy at UC Davis to give a verbal recommendation for me. With a twinkle in his eyes and a broad smile on his face he told me that he had to lie through his teeth so that I'd get the Fellowship. Thanks to his teaching and kindness I am an academic nephrologist and my son has followed in my footsteps. Dr. Rose's legacy lives on. I am eternally grateful to him.

I had the privilege of knowing Dr. Rose, having met him several times at Nephrology Board prep courses he ran, and being one of the "charter" subscribers to his opus deus,"UptoDate", which I still use today, after 31 years, even though I am now retired.
Dr. Rose, was my mentor of sorts. His books on Nephrology and Renal Physiology were integral in my training during Fellowship at UCLA. He was not only a wonderful teacher and colleague, but a kind gentleman. I was shocked by his passing, as he was in such great health, last I saw him. admittedly several years ago. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Hello, my name is Landi Lowell, I am a physician in Gillette, Wyoming. We have never met, and I did not know Dr. Rose personally. However, thanks to his invention of the UpToDate computer program, I owe him (and you, his family) a debt of gratitude. I have used UpToDate since I was in medical school in 1995, and through residency. I have been a doctor now for over 20 years and still, I use this program daily. It makes me a better clinician.
My deepest sympathies to you in this very sad time. Please know that Dr. Rose improved the lives of countless doctors and their patients. I will think of him often.
So sorry for your loss.

Gloria and Family. I was a patient of Bud's, first at St Vincent's and I followed him to the Brigham and BI. He was a great Doctor and explained everything so well. I can't believe how many thousands of people he has touched through his teaching, lectures, books and Up to date. I know is is playing tennis now where ever he may be.

My thoughts are with Buds family during this heartbreaking moment. Although we were acquainted through a mutual friend, when we would meet, Bud always had a twinkle in his eye and a humorous take on things. Im sure his friends and family mourn his presence. With sympathy, Petra

I know Dr. Rose only peripherally during my residency at Beth Israel. I remember his excitement about his early work on UpToDate, which has become the leading source of reliable medical information for doctors. His ideas seemed a bit farfetched to many, but in fact his vision was exactly on target, and his work has resulted in better medical care for many thousands of patients, just as he had hoped it would. He is not a household name, but in fact he is one of the most influential physicians of the last several decades. We are forever indebted to him.

Dear Gloria and Family,
I am sorry for your loss but I know I am one of thousands of Bud's fans. I met him as a medical student and resident in the late 70s and his impact on me has been lifelong. He was an amazing teacher and mentor. I remember when he was talking about UptoDate when it was a concept but to realize now that I witnessed one of the most impactful transformations in medicine is incredible. I am a better doctor because of Dr. Rose and consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to have known him.
Thank you, Bud.

To Bud's family and friends, I was so sorry to learn of his passing. Bud was a mentor when I trained in nephrology many years ago at the Brigham. All of the fellows in my time recognized his unmatched clinical skills and passion for teaching. People like Bud leave a lasting impression on young minds that we never forget. He truly was a unique and brilliant man. The world is diminished by his passing.

Dear Gloria and Family,
We were very sorry to hear of the loss of Bud. Although we haven't seen you in many years, we have good memories of sharing times together when we lived in Boston. We fondly remember being taken to the basement to see the beginnings of up to date, and to think of what it has since become.
Our thoughts are with you and we hope the coming days are better ones.
